The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band is helping to raise money for the victims of the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair this past August. The band’s song “Jiffy Corn Bread Mix” is available on a compilation of 48 songs that is available digitally for only $10 HERE.

The goal of this project is to increase awareness and donations to The Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund.  Whether you donate via our website or directly, PLEASE donate to help those who have survived this tragedy or lost loved ones.  There are good people who need our help now.

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band releases “Peyton on Patton” today!

Charley Patton, according to Reverend Peyton, “might be the single most important figure in 20th century American music.” The Rev elaborates on that statement in a short essay about Charley Patton, that can be found in the booklet for “Peyton on Patton”. When I first heard Charley Patton, my life was changed forever.  I was hooked.  He made it sound like two guitars.  I have spent a lifetime admiring and studying his music.  I have mentioned his name in interviews and I always have credited him as a big influence on my music.  The Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band has been around the world, we have performed for hundreds, and we have performed for thousands.   After a decade of pilgrimages and tours, we have become a fixture at festivals and venues in the Mississippi Delta of Charley’s birth.  I have been playing guitar since I was 12.  I started giving guitar lessons after I had been playing for only a year.  Only now do I feel confident enough to attempt to pay tribute to my Patron Saint Charley Patton.

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has also announced a run of dates with Austin Lucas & The Bold party. They can be found HERE! 

The name might just be the best description of the band’s sound, a hybrid of roots blues, country and punk-rock intensity, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band might be one of the wildest acts to play any stage. The Big Damn Band has forged their legacy on the road, averaging more than 250 shows a year. After highly successful tours in Europe, Canada and throughout the United States the band is announcing a West Coast headlining tour tapping Austin Lucas and The Bold Party as support.

The dates will kick off on Friday September 2nd with a return to the Rib America Fest in Indianapolis, IN and will include stops in Colorado at the Telluride Blues and Brews Fest and at Riot Fest in Chicago to support Social Distortion. The Big Damn Band will be heading across the Atlantic for a 4 week tour of Europe beginning October 19 including dates in Paris, London, Brussels, Munich, Vienna & more.

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band will be supporting their latest release “Peyton on Patton” which is a tribute to the legendary Delta Bluesman Charley Patton. Peyton on Patton will be in stores everywhere tomorrow, July 19th, 2011 and the band will be playing FREE shows in Indianapolis (Indy CD and Vinyl) and Cincinnati (Shake It Records) for fans that can’t wait for the fall headlining run. A lot of folks will tell you that Robert Johnson was the King of the Delta Blues. But for god’s sake don’t say it in front of Reverend Peyton.

The guitar-wielding leader of The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has no problem praising Johnson and his incredible body of work. “But there’s only one King of the Delta Blues, and his name was Charley Patton,” Peyton said. “I’ll go toe-to-toe with anyone who says different.” This summer Peyton and his band will release a powerful tribute to their hero in the form of Peyton on Patton. The 13-track CD will exclusively feature songs written and recorded by Patton during his brief recording career, which came to an end upon his premature death in 1934. The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band have announced that they will be hitting  the road in support of fellow guitar slinger, The Reverend Horton Heat. The tour starts in St. Louis on April 20 and goes through May. The Reverend Peyton had this to say, “We played one show with Rev. Horton Heat in Ohio a couple of years ago, and it was such a great fit.
