We’re so excited to announce the US Revival Tour 2012!

“The most unique element of The Revival Tour is the camaraderie that it’s based on and the collaborations that are bred from that essence,” explains Americana singer/songwriter and original tour organizer Chuck Ragan. Borne from the rich folk tradition of giving and openness and propelled by an innate need to tell a story in its naked acoustic state, The Revival Tour begins its fifth year with a company of amazing storytellers in Ragan, Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio, The Emergency Room), and longtime Lucero collaborator Cory Branan, Tommy Gabel (Against Me!), and renowned singer/songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff. Sponsored by Daytrotter, Paste Magazine,Ernie Ball and Brixton Clothing, The Revival Tour kicks on March 20th in Dallas, TX, making a stop at Austin’s South By Southwest Music Festival, before circling around North America including Canada, adding many surprise guests along the way (tour dates below).

Loosely structured in the form of old-fashioned folk musician get-togethers, The Revival Tour is an ensemble collective in which the participating musicians collaborate and jam, frequently creating unique and inspired once-in-a-lifetime moments of brilliance – often multiple times in a single night. “I love the volatile, steel-strung, structureless by design, hydra-headed Revival Tour,” says Cory Branan. “I’m stoked as hell to be involved. I always wanted to join a gang!”

Two-time Revival Tour veteran Dan Andriano adds, “I’m just happy to be a part of this again. The time I had with The Revival Tour overseas last Fall was one of the best I’ve ever had. The music, the fellowship, the camaraderie… basically everything Chuck has been building over the past years is, to me, what touring and songwriting is all about. So to be asked to be a part of that again here in the U.S. is a real honor… We’re gonna have a good time!”

In celebration of this year’s tour, we will be releasing a very limited edition die cut 7” on April 3, 2012 in the shape of a saw blade. Featuring two unreleased tracks from Chuck Ragan’s Covering Ground recording sessions (“Field Holler” and “Live By the Sword”), an exclusive red version of the vinyl will only be available with pre-order tickets for The Revival Tour.

Folk troubadour (and former frontman for Florida punk mainstays Hot Water Music) Chuck Ragan released his new album Covering Ground last week via SideOneDummy Records. It was produced by Christopher Thorn of Blind Melon. Special guests on the album include Christopher Thorn, Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem, Frank Turner, Audra Mae, Rich Steff & Todd Beene of Lucero, Chris Phillips of Squirrel Nut Zippers, and of course his bandmates Jon Gaunt on fiddle and Joe Ginsberg on upright bass.

Ragan just wrapped a tour supporting Dropkick Murphys and will also be support for Social Distortion on their upcoming national tour in November. Chuck Ragan has been traveling the world as a musician, first with punk outfit Hot Water Music and later as a solo artist, for nearly twenty years.

His latest album, Covering Ground, channels the emotions and ideas so closely tied to such travels while featuring musical support from names like Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem), Chris Thorn (Blind Melon) and long-time partners Jon Gaunt on fiddle and Joe Ginsberg on bass.

This will be his third album as a solo artist and showcases the way his songwriting has developed over his vast experience as a working musician.

Here are a few bits of information we feel is necessary for you to know about your orders:

• All Horrible Crowes orders have been shipped. All of them. Every last one of them. Well, except for the ones that have come in while we type this and post it.
•  The 7” for all the Horrible Crowes Exclusive Bundles have not shipped and won’t ship for another 2 weeks. That was mentioned in the item description since day 1.
•  The posters for the Horrible Crowes Exclusive Bundles ship in a nice tube to avoid them getting jacked up in transit and more than likely will arrive before the rest of your order. Stare at the poster while you wait for your record/CD to arrive. It’s pretty.
•  If you pre-ordered both The Horrible Crowes AND Chuck Ragan, they were probably shipped together. Lucky you.
•  VERY IMPORTANT: If your order does not arrive on street date, do not freak out. It’s on its way. Once we drop off orders at the post office, it is up to them to get it to your doorstep in a timely manner. We can offer to track it and see what’s the deal with it but we can’t speed up the process of delivery. Some of you will not get it by street date. That’s just the reality of it but the wait is well worth it. We feel this worth mentioning to avoid mean emails sent us about orders not arriving on time. Mean emails are hurtful and make people cry. Cry = no good. We ship everything on time in the hopes things arrive on time but by you pre-ordering it, you agree to our terms that it will arrive “on or AROUND street date.” So be cool…chill out…and if you’re bummed because everyone is talking about how great it is, don’t feel sad that it’s not in your hands yet, think of it as something great to look forward to.

Singer-songwriter Chuck Ragan has racked up many miles touring five continents over the past two decades. His latest album, Covering Ground, is a collection of songs he wrote on the road or about the road. In explaining the inspiration behind his latest track, the Americana rocker “You Get What You Give,” he says, “There is always a struggle finding balance doing what we love. Above all, holding true to that original passion rather than sinking into a self-absorbed world which is addicted to self-gratification, attention and spotlight.” These beliefs helped him come up with the theme – and the title – of the track. “In the end, it comes down to a single choice of how we decide to treat people and ourselves. What goes around comes around; and sooner or later whether we like it or not, we will get what we give.” Covering Ground will hit stores on September 13th, but you can download “You Get What You Give” for free here.

As if a brand new, FREE Chuck Ragan song wasn’t enough, Rolling Stone is also hosting the first FULL album stream of Elsie, The Horrible Crowes album that comes out on Tuesday (September 6)!

Brian Fallon, the frontman for New Jersey rockers the Gaslight Anthem, teamed up with his old friend Ian Perkins to form the Horrible Crowes, an outlet for the singer’s more introspective material. Though the songs on Elsie, the band’s debut, are slower and more somber than most Gaslight Anthem tunes, Fallon’s gift for grand, cinematic music is still in evidence. Elsiewill hit stores on September 6th, but you can stream the album in full today.
