On January 30th, while on tour, Audra Mae stopped by 106.1 WCNR The Corner in Charlottesville, VA for an interview and performance. Along with bassist Joe Gingsberg, Audra performed new songs from her new record, “Audra Mae and The Almighty Sound” scheduled for release on February 14th. Audra Mae and her band The Almighty Sound will be releasing their self-titled album on February 14^th, 2012. The 11-track album is quite a departure from her darker, more dramatic release The Happiest Lamb.  Audra Mae & The Almighty Sound is a celebration of her own blossoming as a performer, the perfect storm of all her influences, spiked with the energy of a group who honed their chops in a live setting.

The album was co-produced by country star Deana Carter, whose debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This? sold 5 million in the U.S., and has had three #1 country singles. The album, which was recorded live, including vocals, in one week at Hollywood Sound, genuinely captures the band’s electric performances.

The lead track on the album “The Real Thing” is currently streaming here. The track was written with Bravo’s Platinum Hit contestant Jackie Tohn and will give old fans and first time listeners a taste of what is to come.

The group has also announced the pre-order for the album HERE which allows fans to get the album digitally a week early and also gives the option to send your Valentine a digital copy of the album for $5.

Last week we did a little Autumn cleaning and went through a few boxes of test pressings. Collectively, we decided that it’d be way better that fans have them than them sitting in boxes in our office. Since the release of Audra Mae’s acclaimed debut album, The Happiest Lamb, on SideOneDummy Records in May of 2010, the Oklahoma-born singer/songwriter has undergone an exciting transformation. The most obvious change is the presence of her brand new band, aptly named The Almighty Sound. The Almighty Sound is a group of Audra’s close and talented friends including stand-up bassist Joe Ginsberg, guitarist Jarrad Kritzstein, pianist Frank Pedano, drummer Kiel Fehercame, back up vocalist Brent Kyle, and Chelsea Butts (who is also Audra’s sister). Audra also sought out country star Deana Carter (“Did I Shave My Legs for This”) to help write and co-produce. Carter’s presence on the creation of the album adds to the exuberance of Audra Mae and The Almighty Sound.

While The Happiest Lamb showcased Audra Mae’s darker, more dramatic side, the debut EP from Audra Mae & The Almighty Sound is a celebration of Audra’s own blossoming as a performer, spiked with the energy of an enthusiastic band.

The EP will be available digitally on November 29th, 2011, but it can be streamed TODAY in it’s entirety HERE.
