Pittsburgh legends ANTI-FLAG have carved an incredible path of punk
rock for the past two decades. Through eight full-length albums and
thousands of shows played in every corner of the globe, the band has
never lost sight of where it all began: The DIY Basement Show.

Last month—to coincide with the release of the band’s new album The
General Strike—Anti-Flag returned to the basement for a special
intimate show with just 50 of their biggest fans. This experience
marked the debut of AltarTV’s new original video series Noise From The
Underground.

The show premieres on Friday, May 4 at AltarTV.com

“We’re re-creating that raw experience,” explains AltarTV Creator Alex
Drizos. “One that connects fans to the band in the most fundamental,
passionate, and unforgettable way possible; while also bringing the
band back to their roots in a primitive punk-rock inspired
environment.”

Anti-Flag packed into a DIY community space basement in Braddock, PA,
recounting tales of their storied career to fans and friends, along
with performing an exclusive set of songs spanning their entire
discography.

The Noise From The Underground series will deliver this experience to
fans across the globe at AltarTV.com. The show gives unprecedented
access to the band in their most intimate performance to date along
with exclusive band interviews that includes insight on their
legendary career.

Anti-Flag has announced that they will be playing the 2012 Vans Warped Tour this year. The band will be playing all your favorite jams along with a ton of songs from their new record The General Strike on the main stage this summer. Anti-Flag has partnered with Amnesty international to debut their new video for “This Is The New Sound.” The video takes aim at the National Defense Authorization Act, which many, including the members of Anti-Flag, believe represents a erosion of human rights in the United States.

The video was filmed at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, OH; the same prison location as Shawshank Redemption. Anti-Flag explain the inspiration behind the video by saying “The erosion of human rights should always be taken seriously. We wanted to find a creative and clever way to introduce these ideas into the discourse about our new record “The General Strike”. This video is a culmination of that idea, yea, maybe we’ll talk about how funny it is to see puppets beating the hell out of us, but we’ll also discuss the idea that people are being held in prisons without fair trials, and the promise Obama has made to shut down Guantanamo Bay has yet to be fulfilled.”

Anti-Flag Announce ANTIFest – May 3rd at The Forum, University of Hertfordshire UK

Today, Feb 22nd 2012, the brilliant ANTI-FLAG can announce their very own UK festival, ANTIfest! Taking place on May 3rd at The Forum within the University of Hertfordshire, the festival will be a first for the band, who look set to establish it as an annual event. As well as headline the festival, the band have curated the whole bill, booking bands they love, have played with before and that share a similar musical ethos and attitude. The event will also have volunteers from Amnesty International, PETA, and Emmaus providing information and a forum for debate and discussion.

Anti-Flag “1915″ Lyric Video – Filmed in Thailand on our recent
Southeast Asia tour 2012.

“Joe Hill may have been the 1st punk rock musician. He didn’t have the
same aesthetic to his sound, but he certainly had the attitude. He
fought diligently for human rights. He questioned nationalism at what
we can only believe was it’s peak. He inspired so many people while
alive and for sure even more after his death.

He was killed in November of 1915 by firing squad for what many
believe was a murder he did not commit. Joe believed he was worth more
to the labour movement as a dead martyr then if he was alive. He was
cremated, his ashes placed into around 600 envelopes according to
Wobbly (IWW – International Workers of The World) folklore, they were
sent many places, sprinkled at places he loved, ingested by our dear
friend and legend Billy Bragg, one envelope that read “Joe Hill
Murdered By The Capitalist Class” was seized by the US Postal Service
in 1917 for its “subversive potential”.

Often, we have to look backwards for inspiration on how to proceed forward.

The song 1915 is us doing just that.”

“Get up! Your voices are needed!” Justin Sane shouts on Anti Flag’s new studio album, The General Strike, which is due out on March 20th, 2012 on Side One Dummy Records.

The 13 tracks that comprise the bands 8th studio album are arguably their most aggressive to date. With influences ranging from hardcore to modern folk punk, The General Strike is reckless yet tight, experimental yet familiar, and as impassioned and enraged as the bands feels.

The General Strike was recorded and produced by Anti-Flag at their home studio and is poised to be the soundtrack for the masses of begrudged private citizens that are currently protesting corporate injustice and governmental power around the world.
